The Leyte Landing commemorative held at St. Barnabas Senior Hall, on Oct. 20, was a success. A hundred attendees, mostly WWII Veterans, the widows of Veterans, and representative guest of the VA, the Consul Gen. Mary Jo Aragon, her Deputy, Daniel Espiritu and Eric Sierra graced the occasion. Col. Ralph Ramirez, the authoritative military historian shared a rare footage of the actual surrender held aboard the USS Missouri, with trivia of the historic event. Domingo Manay, 93 years old was the oldest Veteran, who in a firm voice with emotion, thanked Obama and Filner for finally recognizing his services as a USAFFE inductee in 1941, being a Commonwealth soldier.

The theme of the event was, "the past, the present and the future of
survivors." Albert Alpasan presented the newly opened West L.A. Veterans home, a state of the art assisted living facility with
skilled nursing services. He
had applications handy for he is
assigned to screen the interested
honorably discharged-62 and over Veteran to apply for residence.

The assembly had a sumptous lunch and there was dancing afterwards.
